Industry Groups Press USDA to Maintain Reports

American farm industry groups are unhappy with the USDA’s decision to cut back on several agricultural reports to save money. These reports include critical information for farmers, such as the July Cattle Report and county-level crop and livestock estimates. Zippy Duvall, president of the American Farm Bureau Federation, sent a letter to the USDA urging them to reconsider, arguing that these reports are essential for market fairness and transparency. The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service is implementing these cuts starting in the 2024 production year.
