New year New opportunities

Corn and soybeans came out of the gate higher overnight with soybeans up 20 cents and corn up 4 cents. Weekend rains were not very expansive and the trend remains dry. This on top of new year new money trying to be the first to the market has the bears on their back foot this morning. We have a the final WASDE for the 2021 next week on the 12th and most are expecting bearish adjustments to the soybean balance sheet but neutral to possible bullish adjustments to the corn sheet. The problem is the soybeans have not taken the hint and are performing quite well for having a swelling balance sheet. There will be some volatility as we close in on next Thursday’s report but we may see a run at last week’s highs before the release. The way the year is lining up right now we expect there to be plenty of pricing opportunities and for producers they could come very early in the year as the acre battle could be a massive one.
