G7 to Focus on Agricultural Issues

G7 leaders pledged to tackle global malnutrition, exacerbated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, through the Apulia Food Systems Initiative (AFSI). The initiative will focus on low-income countries, particularly in Africa, aiming to overcome structural barriers to food security and nutrition. It will also explore financial instruments like debt-for-nature swaps to reduce borrowing costs for poorer nations. However, the plan has been criticized by African agricultural groups for not including them in the consultation process.
